Mi sono avvicinato alla fotografia da oltre vent’anni, un pò per caso e forse un pò perchè doveva proprio succedere. Fino a quel momento da bravo emiliano, ma di anima romagnola, avevo una grande passione per i motori e per le motociclette in particolare. Ho girato molto, ma limitandomi in quei tempi a guardare più che osservare. Anche allora, se così si può dire , facevo fotografie, ma lo facevo solo con gli occhi, e molte immagini pur se sono passati non pochi anni, le ho ancora davanti a me. Poi, un giorno, l'incontro casuale con una rivista, Airone, che allora era praticamente l'unica rivista di natura, ha fatto scattare una molla nascosta. Ho scoperto un nuovo mondo, insospettato e meraviglioso, un nuovo modo di osservare e di guardarsi intorno. Sono stato colpito dalle immagini e dalla quantità di "particolari" che potevano essere "osservati". I "nuovi occhi per saper vedere" di cui parla Proust nella sua frase e che mi ha sempre accompagnato in tutti questi anni. Il poi è storia di oggi. L'incontro con alcune associazioni di natura ha fatto il resto e da li a voler "fermare" su pellicola quanto vedevo è stato un passo molto breve. Amo molto gli estremi del mondo e i luoghi affascinanti che racchiudono, e quando mi muovo desidero sempre, nei limiti del possibile, andare a ricercare ambienti e luoghi dove la mano dell'uomo non abbia lasciato ancora i suoi segni. Anche se questo stà diventando sempre più difficile!

I first approached twenty years ago, in one way by chance and in another way perhaps because it was supposed to about motorbikes.I travelled a great deal, but in those days i just looked rather than observing.Even then, i was a photographer, but only with my eyes, if that counts, and i can still see many of those images, despite the passing of the years. Then, one day, the chance encounter with Airone magazine, wich at the time was practically the only nature magazine around, released a hidden spring within me.
I discovered an unexpected and wonderful new world, a new way of observing and looking around myself. I was struck by the images and by the amount of "detail" that could be "observed" - "new eyes for knowing how to see" - of wich Proust had spoken in his phrase that has accompanied me in all these years. What followed is today's history.
Meeting up with nature clubs did the rest and from there to wanting to "fix" what i'd seen on film was just a short step. i love the world's extremities and its fascinating places and when i'm on the move, whenever possible, i always get the urge to look for setting and places where manking has still not left its mark. Although this is becoming increasingly difficult!
